Wrap UP!

So i guess this is the last few videos I'll find about the event!, We will be going down to Sony's Office to talk trough our game design thoughts...

other than that i have to catch up on my homework, Something i kinda put aside for the past few days because of the competition. So,I've been crouching over the dinning table for the last 9 hours drawing on a HUGE piece of paper, or more like 5 pieces of paper taped together and plotted down , trying to complete my Perspective homework 3 Point this time, which basically mean's more paper =/, more time , and more lines XD..

and so my back hurts like someone consistently squishing it! So I'm gonna go sleep soon!

Well rested and back to reality:)

so i have to head back down to reality and er,.... start doing my homework again,...
now i need to get over the fact that in 4 more week the semester is going to end, Noooooo.......!!

Worth every bit!

You must be wondering why I've been MIA for awhile!

Something super awesome happened to me today!
and here's the story.

I love little big planet i used to play it on the PS3, got to the 3rd last level played that level at least 50 times and never got over it.. basically gave up, i didn't even own the game but i manage to play it at my friends house from time to time.

So when the school emailed us and i saw this poster! I immediately wanted to join this competition, I had no idea what it was about except that i loved it and the word PSP caught my attention, I was curious to know if they really were making a psp version! i searched it up and found out it was true, the actual release date for the game is going to be Nov 17! I was just thinking WOW Cool are they really gonna have the game and let us use it before it gets launch?

Problem was that you needed a team! and i didn't have one, so i just went to facebook and posted it just to see if anyone else was interested, i got a reply from my good friend over here Doanna who's Singaporean too and said she was intending to join! and that she would contact me and sign me up! There was a few miss communications between the 2 of us and so i ended up entering the competition about 2 hours before it started! *apparently she's been trying to contact me, but i didn't receive any miss calls!*

So i got out of class from Intro to animation and headed down to The School and sat down next to my friend rather confused as to what was going on!I saw people psp and random photos of San Francisco on the wall - she then when on and said " its more complicated than you think!" so the competition is to create a game level using the psp" Here's the catch, we have to do it within 24 hours and our theme is gonna be cable cars!"

Then who ever wins will have their level uploaded and downloadable on the game community when the game is out!, "I have no idea if their even gonna give us any prizes"
She then when on and said, my friend kinda drag me into this, i don't think I'll have time i might just back out!"

This was what what i was thinking at that moment" Wow! 24 hours, i don't think i wanna waste my time on it, but its good exposure for Doanna, that's kinda cool.." you could add that to your resume"I don't think it would be good for me" but wait why are there Gamespot people and interviewers here ? is it that big of a deal ? " Well lets see what the people who were gonna talk about the competition have to say!

I guess there was no time to react and we got sucked into it pretty fast!, ideas started flowing into my mind, and the more i got the idea, that we had this game that wasn't even out yet.I was gonna touch it, be able to create a level and maybe win! The excitement was just building up! and no.1 I LOVE THIS GAME!

so we sat down over lunch briefly talk about our idea , they handed the PSP to me and told me to fiddle with it maybe even think about how to make a cable car!, cause they had to attend class!I knew Doanna but i didn't know at all where what or who this other guy i was working with but we clicked well and things started on a good note and continued to flow really well!

I headed home really excited, did what i could and started to relise the game had glitches, and the file i was fiddlng around crashed on me, that's when we knew we were gonna have a rough time! *apparently* they had to tweak the game so that we could have all the unlockables and create a level, Which made every thing 10 times worse for us!, things would automatically switch itself around, stuff would move and disappear, a lot of things weren't working right ! and during this whole 24 hours it crashed about 15 times on us where it would jam and then totally turn off the PSP, worst glitch i ever encountered was that everything was in the right place i was rather happy , and when i decided to start adding something everything just went wacko and blew all over the place! thankfully we manage to get around it!

So i left my house at 7pm and got over to Doanna's place to spend the rest of the night working on the idea, we only really started building our game set close to 12 midnight, mostly plotting down and getting the idea out was our main concern!

We all took turns to build the set, about 4 hours at the time, and the rest would either continue to work on the drawing or take a nap, i think i had only 3 hours of sleep not to mention the additional 3 hours of sleep i had the day before because of my assignments! But i wasn't tired at all, i was constantly excited, even when i took a nap and if i woke up for just a few moments I remember telling Nathan the other guy we were working with, to SAVE THE WORK! and then doze back to sleep..

By 6am we only had the base!~, we were more fighting with the program rather then working with it, spending most of the time fixing problems, we finally got the background fore ground and everything else lined up and finally working by 10am..

we headed down to the school because Nathan who was working for the gaming director had to start work, the both of them had already miss class because we needed to finish the game level!

we spend the next 2 hours adding detail like signs and random stuff that still felt out of place.. the last 1 hour was really funny and crazy! , we had to use stickers to paint the stuff, as well as add sound, it got to a point where me and Doanna just lost talking properly to each other and talk singlish like, AIYO JALAT! CAN LAR! ANYHOW ANYTHING NEBERMIND! JUST PASTE!, we got to a point where we just had to be spontaneous and just put whatever that felt right!

We ended up handing it in 10 mins before the dateline, so they were gonna judge the think and have the award ceremony at 7pm, at a bar called rue.

" i was like, OK what should i do now ? sleep ? i don't feel like sleeping ? go home ? i guess i could do that ? , but I'm excited ? never-mind go home try and sleep!" i ended up rambling about the event to my roommate had only about an hour of sleep walked around the house and waited till 6 got out, and finally got there at 7!

I must thank Karen and Dan for coming along with me, and being my photographer, also i guess support our team! normally i would be the photographer but i just pass the camera to Karen and said be my photographer for the night! , again Thanks! photos were beautiful!

so we socialise and made friends, it was so cool as it is already , i was having loads of fun and Obviously still really excited!

They had the other team's work set up at each of the tables in different corners of the room, I played the rest out and they were all really well done too, i don't know if i was just too tired or something but i kept getting electrocuted or was set on fire as i fell on to the booby traps..

So it was finally was time to announce the winners , they gave a few of their own speech about how they like everybody's and how lovely it was for us to have complete it within 24hours...

We recived a copy of little big planet and a PSP GO! EACH!

Every one else got a copy of the game too! for participating!

We got interviewed by GAME SPOT!, and their gonna be talking about our game too! ON THE WEBSITE on the spot segment to be uploaded by this Saturday!

We also got interviewed by a representative for his company that was situated in London!

To be honest , i was excited because i had fun, i just wanted to keep adding stuff to the level!, and it was really addicting, further more i was actually playing a game for a purpose rather then wasting my time or let time past faster!, i had no idea i was gonna receive a psp Go , or that i was going to get a pre launch box set of the game!!! which i intended to buy when the thing came out!

Out of all the team there were only i think 3 girls participating out of which the other girl was in a team of 5 that had 2 others as support. Better yet, 2 Female Singaporeans :D,GO SINGAPOREAN GIRL POWER! - of coarse it wouldn't have been as powerful as it was with out chemical X! LOL Nathan!, it was really fun and enjoyable working with them, everything flowed like butter! and best part we had the best 24 hours creating the level!

Everything happened so fast that, i didn't even get the chance to tell my parents i was entering the competition, or even tell them that i won! - they would find out soon enough :D

Pencilbrush!

Ok i have to blog this, its really cool!

i briefly typed it out on facebook but i felt it needs more explanation to it!

My friend RJ, from my anatomy class mention to me about this tool called the pencil brush
I was skeptic at first but decided to check it out today!(He's getting his in 3 weeks time for his birthday)(shucks!)

and boy oh boy! it is amazing! every artist should own one of these, save you a load of time! And i know how most of the people that read my blog are artist anyway! i thought i share my new found discovery!

Basically is a pencil which holds a couple of mechanical pencil lead in a row , and allows you to use it like a brush, blocking in shades and adding sharp lines

there are a few videos on how this artist uses it, its pretty amazing! it blew my mind!

things pretty pricey costing you $37 +shipping (I'll get to this in a bit) , but i say.. its one of kind .. some people buy pens that cost 100's of dollars just to sign a document .. why can't artist spare some money to create works!

time is money too!

Ok back to the point about the cost - strange though when i place the order on my
checkout list and calculate the shipping, first country to pop up is
Singapore o.O! and its 2 bucks, when i swap it around and change it to
USA or any other country ,it cost me 5 buck in shipping!

( I guess we manufactured it or something?)

so if this was actually in US dollars the actual cost of it in SIN with an exchange rate of 1.5( i already give chance , economy is bad), its $52.50 shipping is 2 so in sin its 3 , in comparasion to the 5 bucks which is 7.50s g -.-! ok i'm being really calculative! What would be lagi BEST if it was in SG dollars! shiock Arh! but i highly doubt it!

point is you'll save $4.50 in comparison to me if i would actually want to get it!

SO GOOD NEWS SINGAPORE YOU SAVE MONEY!

Freaking waste of time and its not even my fault!

The week has been fine, i actually decided to go swimming in my schools pool, was expecting the water to be really cold, but it was rather nice, but only problem was that i brought a tinny weeny towel, and started to freeze up as i walk faster and faster to the toilet! o.o!, I'll definitely go again but way more prepared!

as for food since this is the first photo up!, i think its my most successful dish, and it was really delicious! only think i should have done was simmer it at a higher heat.

Whoever hasn't eaten oxtail soup or stew is really missing, its strong and delicious flavor! Unique to the meat :) ( FYI , OXTAIL is basicly Cow tail )

So exactly what wasted my time ?
I had an English class about 2 weeks ago, and i went to school as usual, to make matters worse it was raining, and it hasn't been raining for about a month since then.. so i go to the school shake my umbrella, and my few classmate standing by the door equally dumbfounded, tells me class is cancelled! -.- thankfully i had an important homework to do and had more time to work on it..

so 2 weeks later she tells us that she's gonna replace the class with 3 options of going for a talk , one in Okaland (NO!) another in South east bay(NO!) and one further out from the furthest school of mine..
and it starts at 7.30pm so i thought i might as well drag myself there..

besides the chocolate and orange i munched on during break everything was ok ~ alot of reading about their own novel,... and then end o.o! the place was located in an industrial area so it was really oooolluuu, ( dark and spooky)

probably walk like 7 blocks just to get to my school, cause i thought that there might be a bus, then realize its Saturday and buses don't come around, had to walk about 3 blocks back to the bus stop, i had already missed 2 public buses..

Sat on the street and cam hore for like about 15 mins ..

To only watch an AAU bus go by! -.-!

then the bus comes 10 mins later dammit!, and i get on and there's a bunch of really sketchy people , better yet the route goes through Tenderloin.

What i found funny as i drop of smack in the middle of tenderloin, is a sign at the very top of this lamp post, it had like about 4 sentence in 3 different language with detailed explanation on how to not litter if not you get a 150 dollar fine .. and...

Tada!

by the time i got back it wask an hour an a half pass, the time i left the place.. super cold, and tired out , having wind blow in my face nonstop and shivering like crazy!

500 Days of Summer - Official Full Length Trailer

This movie is so realistically fantasy, yeap i said it so true and down to earth well filmed and worth watching.. It reminds me of pushing daisies a lot, the way its narrated and told. The best part of this show which i think makes it good, is how its told both pas and present. as much as i don't really like the reality of the conclusion of the movie. Its so true yet you don't want it to be .. Maybe its just me, a movie with mixed emotions and different point of views. It definitely deserved the sun dance festival movie award!

Foood!

i realize now how food culture Singaporeans are,

I had my roommate try ba kua, cause she cooked something that tasted like it but a very meaty version of it, and she did agree that they tasted the same :D

along with that i went to the market to decide what to cook for lunch i wanted to make ox tail soup but my roommate isn't quite ready for exotic yet.. so I'll just cook it and not tell her muahaha! I don't think its that exotic anyway..

Nasi Branni with rice and white rice cause i had left over and Rendang that looked deceiving!

So i ended up cooking Rendang with Nasi Branni instead, the Rendang didn't turn out as thick as imagine but it taste exactly how it should taste like with and over done amount of coconut milk.. she gave a scale because Dan asked her too from a 1 to a 10, and she gave 10! omg, so honored to actually have such a score XD!

i had intended to like make samosas for awhile, since i kept seeing the rice paper thingy and that i already had one of those frozen packs of veggie - with potato even!
all i needed to get was the curry powder so i did! spend the last hour or so mashing the mix and putting them together .. some of them didn't quite look like the proper triangle but some turned out ok..

Unfortunately my roommate conked out by then and so only Dan and i got a try .. :D and i love it! its like one of my favorite foods , i recall the times where i would go to the canteen and like buy 4 of those for breakfast ... Muahaha , unhealthy! yes i know! but it kept me less hungry for a long time! sometimes no mood for lunch :D

What else have i been feeding myself ?

that was the last of my IKEA MEATBALLS! NOOoooooo! Gotta get more soon!

sweet and sour pork!, yummy i added Rambutans! ( i know you must be saying your crazy!) but ...it actually taste better :D was in a Chinese restaurant and notice they did that so tried it myself! :)

And being that halloween is over , we had to toss the pumpkin :( , it was getting really moldy and not like any kind of mold but BLACK mold! .. i know what a way to end a blog post about food!

Other then food food and food!, I've got the usual homework load and when i have a few works piled up and done, I'll upload them but for now, i need to chill for abit before starting work again!
